Most “my sprinklers will not come on” calls are a valve or a wire, not a controller. We check 24 volts at the controller, then at the valve. If the coil is open, that is a ten-minute swap. If the rubber inside the valve is shredded, we rebuild the valve in the box so you keep the same manifold.
Spring valve boxes sit in the wettest corner of the lot. After a Gulf rain they fill. Debris holds a rubber inside the valve open. That is the zone that waters the street at 2 a.m. We clean, rebuild, and raise the box if it is buried under two inches of St. Augustine.
